Roberto Pla, webmaster of the unofficial (but very good) Ejército del Aire website (Spanish Air Force) sent me this image of the flag of the 1st Air (Force) Region during the Second Spanish Republic (1931-1939). His source is a photograph he took of the actual flag in the Spanish Air Museum.

This flag follows the new design approved by the Government of the Second Republic in the Ordinance of 27th April 1931:
(...) Flags of [Military] Units shall be of the same shape and dimensions as the Regulation ones used up to now (...) Flagpoles shall be of the same shape and dimensions as the current ones (...)A later Order of 6th May 1931 specified that the flags should have a 1 m side. Another change is of course the purple colour of the lower stripe, and the size of the stripes which became of equal width, each 1/3 of the flag's height. The Burgundy Cross also disappears except in Legión pennants (guiones and banderines). The arms was modified and the royal crown replaced with a mural one.
